Have you ever struggled with trying to figure out just how exactly you are supposed to maintain a blog and keep up with motherhood? This is something I struggle with on a daily basis. I love writing, I love blogging, and I love mothering. Obviously, my children come first and my blog tends to get shut out.
I was so thankful for the opportunity to read Blog at Home Mom by Christin Slade. This book has already encouraged me to change my schedule to make time for blogging while balancing motherhood and not neglecting my children or my home.
My favorite tid-bits of advice come from the very last chapter of the book on caring for your spiritual walk. I have really had to scrutinize my own priorities and pray about where God wants me to be right now. My husband’s deployment and the fact that I am now a mother of three children under age five has led me to let go of a lot of commitments. Yet, I still feel called to write here. I may not be able to write as much as another blogger, but I can do what I can. Blog at Home Mom is helping me to make a schedule and prioritize my writing. Now that my littlest baby is a bit older, I actually feel like writing after the children are in bed, which I feel is the only real time I can write!
If you are struggling to balance mothering with blogging, I definitely recommend reading this book and using the encouragement packed inside to find your own balance and schedule.
I know for a fact that I am not going to be able to stick to a schedule perfectly. There will be weeks when blog posts don’t go up. Life is going to happen and my hubby isn’t here to back me up right now, but I can use what I’ve learned from Blog at Home Mom to make some time to write and share my passions.
My favorite quote from Blog at Home Mom:
Perfection knows no rest. Perfection is never satisfied and it means doing something perfectly, without fail. That is not possible for anyone.
I enjoyed that Slade interviewed other bloggers to give us a glimpse into the realities of blogging. No one is perfect and we all struggle with finding our balance!
