I’ve never really liked math. I can remember the first time I struggled with it. I was in fourth grade and learning multiplication. Normally I was an A student, but I got sent to the remediation table for more focused help with my multiplication. I felt humiliated. I think that stayed with me the entire time I was in school. I always felt like it was just my hardest subject. That mentality has unfortunately followed me into my homeschooling mom venture. I often put off teaching math, which is not good!

How We Used The Preschool Math Unit
I mentioned I have a tendency to slack on teaching math concepts. I decided to use this unit to make learning math fun. Since every page has to be cut, I had the kids cut out each piece. They actually really enjoyed cutting out the pieces and they got some good cutting practice! Then I had them sit on the floor while we played the games!
We started off with the shape match game. I placed each heading on the floor and held up each shape. The kids called out the names of the shapes and took turns placing them under the correct heading.
The next game we played was the number/quantity match game. We played this game in the same manner as the shape match game. We did the color match game, as well.
I divided the games up to play over the course of a week, so we will try the other games this week. I thought if we played them all at once we would get overwhelmed!
What I loved
I loved the colors of the games and how easy they are to use with the kids. My three year old also really loved the colors. The directions for each game were clear and easy to follow.
What could be improved
There’s not really anything that could be improved, but you have to realize this is a digital product. You will need a good printer and be prepared to print 47 pages. While we printed the unit on regular printer paper, it would be wise to use card stock or laminate the pages to make the activities last. You will also need to cut the individual pieces yourself, which can be tedious.
Overall, we have really enjoyed the Preschool Math unit. It has been a fun addition to our homeschool!
