These days most of us are anxious to save money anywhere we can. One of the easiest places to save money is on your kids’ clothes. There’s lots of ways to do it! I love saving money on my kids’ clothes because I feel like I can walk away with some awesome high-end clothing for prices I would pay at Walmart or Target!
1. Buy in lots off of Ebay
This one can be tricky since you cannot actually see the clothes before you purchase them, but you can score some awesome deals on cheap kids’ clothes. Before you bid on a lot, make sure the seller has a positive rating. When Bug was a little baby, most of his clothes were won off of Ebay.
2. Take Hand-Me-Downs
I never turn down hand-me-downs. If someone is willing to give me some clothes for free, then I’m certainly willing to take them and put them to good use. You can’t get any cheaper than free when it comes to cheap kids’ clothes, right? If the clothes are way too big or too small, I put them in our local consignment sales, which leads me to…
3. Consignment Sales
If your area has seasonal kids’ consignment sales, take advantage of them! I was afraid to try them, but I did last spring and have been hooked ever since. Not only can you get a lot of name brand children’s clothing for cheap, but you can sell all of your kids’ outgrown clothes and toys! I even got the majority of my kids’ birthday presents at the latest consignment sale. We will talk about that in a future post.
At the last consignment sale I pretty much broke even with what I sold and what I bought. If I had only bought clothes, I would have made money. You do usually have to pay a consignor’s fee and a certain percentage of your sales, but I could never sell so much stuff at one time on my own.
