There’s nothing more satisfying to me than cuddling up with my children and reading a good book. We were very excited to read and review two books about Peter Rabbit from Kinder Cottage Publishing.
About the Peter Rabbit Books
These Peter Rabbit stories were originally written by Duff Graham for the Henry Altemus company around 90 years ago. Kinder Cottage has edited the books to modernize the text for the young readers of today. There are 10 books available for purchase, each one following the adventures of Peter Rabbit. Each book is a lovely hardback that contains around 60 pages. The text is opposite of a reproduction of the original illustrations throughout the books.
The next book we read was How Peter Rabbit Went to Sea.
This was another great story about the mischievous Peter Rabbit. Once again we find him in Mr. McGregor’s garden. He gets into quite a bit of trouble with his mother when he doesn’t bring him the cabbage he was supposed to get. The next day Peter and his sisters are allowed to play, but they must not play near the brook. Of course, Peter disobeys. He decides to make a boat and set sail in the brook. He runs into quite a bit of trouble and has a fright, but he makes it back home and vows to never be a Pirate again.
How We Used the Books
We love read alouds here. I read the stories to the kids before bed and during our story time during the day. I often found my children sitting with the books and “reading” the stories by looking at the pictures and narrating what they saw.
It was wonderful to see them so engaged with classic stories.
Even my youngest little guy enjoyed flipping through the books and pointing to the pictures!
Our Opinion of the Peter Rabbit Books
I believe these are very fine books to add to your child’s collection. The stories provide very wonderful morals for children. It is not right to disobey, and if you don’t listen to your Mama, you might end up in some very bad situations just like Peter! The books are very sturdy and you cannot beat the price of $4.00 each!
I highly recommend these books to add a little fun and adventure to your homeschool. These are stories your children will want to read again and again!
