DIY Cat Litter Changing Station

When you have multiple cats, you have to come up with a solution for the litter box. We have three lovely kitties and it has taken a little bit of time to figure out the perfect cat litter solution. In order to keep all of our cat litter supplies contained, I decided to make my own DIY cat litter changing station. Let me show you how I did it!

DIY Cat Litter Changing Station

Now on to the tutorial!

Don’t throw away those Tidy Cats® buckets! They can be reused for so many things. I’m using one for my DIY Cat Litter Changing Station. You’re also going to need some decorative paper. I’m using Contact paper in my preferred pattern. Don’t forget the scissors.

You could also spray paint the bucket, or Mod Podge patterned paper on to it, but the Contact paper is easiest.

All I did was cut the Contact paper to fit the bottom part of the bucket.

Then I smoothed it out. I’m using a plastic applicator, you could use a credit card or even your fingers.

Here is my finished, decorated cat litter changing station!

I filled it up with our supplies: cat litter scoops, plastic bags, and paper towels.

Now, I want to introduce you to a very important cat. His name is Garfield and he’s my son’s best friend. My son, Ethan immediately became attached to this cat, and to my surprise, Garfield became attached to him. He follows Ethan around everywhere he goes and sits with him. When my son is feeling anxious, Garfield calms him down. He is our star pet!

I’m so happy this little guy is here for Ethan.

Everything is now in its place.

Since we have a smaller house, it was tricky trying to figure out where we were going to put the cat litter box. We tried several different spots before we settled on a hall closet. The closet is out of the way. We do have to leave the door open, but it really is the best place for the boxes in our house. We use a large storage container for the main litter box.

We also have a covered litter box. Since we have multiple cats we give them options.
