Alphabet flashcards with real pictures

If you want to teach your child the alphabet with real life pictures, we have a really cool set of animal alphabet flashcards that include tracing cards, too. These are a lot of fun if you are homeschooling kindergarten this year!

Alphabet Picture Word Cards

I also really like using abc picture word cards to work on letter and sound recognition, as well as to start working on reading. My kids always enjoy matching the pictures with their beginning sounds and then working up to matching each picture with its word.

How can I make learning the alphabet fun?

One of the ways I like to make learning the alphabet fun is by playing games. In my eBook, Teach the Alphabet, I lay out 20 different fun and exciting games you can do at home with your child.

This spring alphabet game is tons of fun, too! There are just so many games and interesting ways to teach the alphabet. You can easily add the ABCs into your homeschool.

We are also big fans of Leapfrog’s Letter Factory. I have used the DVD with all of my kids! I even think it’s available on Netflix now.

How do I teach my child alphabet recognition?

There are so many ways to teach alphabet recognition to your child. We love to do active alphabet activities. We use wooden magnetic letters, chalk to play alphabet hopscotch, and use our do-a-dot markers to learn our letters.

We also really love these free printable alphabet coloring pages because they are so versatile!

My preschool age kids keep an alphabet notebook and we work on one letter each week.
