It’s been a while. If you haven’t been following my blog, we moved back in July to a smaller house in order to help get our finances on track to pay off debt. I thought I would give a little update and tell you how things are going so far.

Downsizing - What, Why, and How

It wasn’t long after we moved that I found out about my pregnancy with baby #5! To say it was a shock is an understatement. The first few months of pregnancy are always hard for me, so a lot of things got pushed out of the way while I spent a lot of my time sitting in the recliner and just trying to do the very basics for our homeschool.

Our budget got blown quite a bit because I have such a hard time cooking during the first trimester. My van also ended up dying after we moved in, so we got a new van and got rid of my husband’s car. Not the best solution. As far as our debt payoff goes, with all of the derailments we are pretty much going to start from square 1 in January because we have Christmas coming up. We don’t spend a lot on Christmas, but obviously we do spend some. The good news is my hubby got promoted in October, so things are looking up and I’m excited to come up with a plan that will hopefully work.

My goal with our little home is to make it homey and inviting, on a budget, of course. Most of the rooms are not finished, but I did manage to get the kids’ bathroom done.

I am planning on showing you the progress of different rooms in our house. Remember, we live in base housing, so I’m decorating with what is already here.

While the weather was nice the kids and I spent a lot of time on our patio that overlooks the lake. It’s probably one of my favorite spots, but now that the weather is getting colder here we are staying inside a lot more.

I’ve got a lot planned for this space and I hope you will join me in keeping up!
