Weekly zone cleaning can be an amazing thing. One of my zones is my living room. I actually consider living room zone cleaning to be one of the easier zones because there is less for me to do in the living room. If you haven’t read how I do weekly zone cleaning, you’re going to want to, but here’s a brief run-down. Each week I pick a zone and do a few deep cleaning tasks per day in that zone. It saves me from having to do a huge spring cleaning of my house, and since I do a few things each day, I’m not spending a ton of time cleaning.

So, if you get my monthly cleaning calendars, you’ll notice that the living room is zone _. You can do all of your zone cleaning tasks on one day if that fits your schedule, or you can break it up into different days.

Next, you’ll need to gather your supplies:

Now let’s get to cleaning:

First, declutter the room!

I always work from the top of the room to the bottom of the room. Remove any cobwebs if you have them.

Using either a magic eraser or a wet cloth, remove any marks from the walls.

I like to use a microfiber cloth to remove dust from my baseboards.

Clean any picture frames or decorative pieces, wipe down tables, the fireplace and mantle and every other hard surface you have.

If you have curtains, you’ll want to take those down and launder them.

Dust blinds, clean under your furniture, clean your lamps and other knick-knacks.

Clean off bookshelves and wipe them down.

Clean all glass with a good glass cleaner.

Clean furniture, vacuum under couch cushions. If you have removeable couch covers, remove those and wash them.

Vacuum the floor and either mop or clean the carpet.

I get several of my cleaners from Grove Collaborative. Join today and snag a Free Mrs. Meyer’s gift set!

And that’s it! I know cleaning your house can seem like a monumental task. I can’t think of the number of times I wish I could just hire it all out and forget about it! BUT, if you break it down into manageable tasks, you can keep a clean house!
