When the temperatures outside start dropping it’s time to make soup! My favorite way to make soup is in the slow cooker. We make all kinds of soups because they are typically inexpensive and work perfectly to feed a large family. Today I am going to show you how to make slow cooker navy bean and ham soup. It’s easy and delicious.

Easy Navy Bean Soup Recipe

If you’re looking for an easy navy bean soup recipe, this is it. Navy beans are a cheap staple. One of the best ways to flavor your navy bean soup is with a ham bone. If you’ve had a big ham dinner, make sure you save your ham bone for the soup! If you don’t have a ham bone, it’s ok. I’m using Goya ham flavoring to get the same delicious taste. I’m also using a ham steak at the end of the cooking so we have meat in our soup.

Best Navy Bean and Ham Soup

This is the best navy bean and ham soup because it is so full of flavor. I add carrots, died tomatoes, celery, and onion to create a hearty soup. My favorite seasonings for navy bean and ham soup are typically thyme or oregano.

Do I need to soak my beans?

Here’s my confession. I have rarely ever soaked my beans. If you do soak your beans, it does cut down on the cooking down and can reduce gas if you have that kind of issue with eating legumes. I often completely forget to soak my beans, so I just try to slow cook my beans for 8-10 hours.

Can I make navy bean and ham soup in the pressure cooker?

Absolutely! This recipe would be perfect for the Instant Pot or pressure cooker. I would just cook the soup for 30 minutes on high pressure.

What do you put in navy bean soup?

In order to make an absolutely wonderful navy bean and ham soup, here are the ingredients you need:
