I have been meaning to purchase an Advent wreath to use at home the last few years, but have not quite managed to actually do that. So, when I was presented with the possibility of reviewing Celebrate Jesus from Homeschool Encouragement, I knew I had to pull something together so we could light candles for Advent this year.

Our DIY Advent Wreath

I went very simple here. I pulled out one of our pretty plates to use as the “wreath.” I did have evergreens around the plate, but my one year old kept attempting to climb on the table to pull them off, so I did away with them. I used four tealights and then one larger white candle. They aren’t the “correct” colors for Advent candles, but it’s okay because I’m improvising here.   Advent is coming! Use this daily schedule of Scripture, songs, activities and more to celebrate Adv

We are now nearly three weeks into Advent, so this review is a little late for this year, but it’s been a busy season for me. I absolutely love Celebrate Jesus: An Advent Resource for Families. It is perfect for walking your family through Advent. It gives us exact Scriptures to read each night, a song to listen to or sing, and an activity to do. There are delicious Christmas recipes and a spot for you to add your own!  I love that there is so much to choose from in this eBook, but you do not have to do it all. The Scripture readings include devotional questions that can be answered by older children.

We especially enjoy listening to the suggested Christmas songs during our candle lighting.

I LOVE that there are pages of Christmas Copywork included with Celebrate Jesus. My children are not old enough to do Scripture copywork just yet, but my son will be doing this next year.

I’m thrilled with all the fun ideas in Celebrate Jesus and that it is helping me be intentional about teaching my kids about Christ’s birth. We are going to bake delicious cookies together tonight because of this eBook. The kids get so excited to bake! If you haven’t been doing Advent activities you can purchase Celebrate Jesus for $5.99. Save it for next year to do all the way through!

Please note: I was given a copy of Celebrate Jesus in exchange for this review. All opinions expressed in this post are my own.
