When it comes to homeschool planning, one of the simplest ways to organize your homeschool materials is with a rolling cart. I have kept our cart very simple on purpose. Today I am going to show you how to organize a rolling cart for homeschool so everything you need is within reach!

Homeschool Cart Ideas

Before we begin organizing our homeschool cart, we need to decide on which cart to purchase. I chose this rolling cart from Michael’s. Amazon has a lot of good options like this one and this one.

The top of my homeschool cart holds all of our “together” subjects. We do these subjects together in the mornings. I keep the Bible I read from, our Bible study, history books, our art curriculum (though we do this in the afternoons), science books, and my teacher’s manuals, and our homeschool morning time menus.

I also have our morning time plans from The Homeschool Garden at the top of our morning cart. We do most of the readings from our morning time plans during the morning, although many of the hands on projects are done in the afternoons.

We are starting our school year with the 1776 morning time plan. It should coordinate perfectly with some of our studies with My Father’s World. I am excited to dive into it! You can join The Homeschool Garden with us, too!

The second shelf of my homeschool rolling cart holds all of my teacher’s manuals for our independent subjects. I have my Horizon’s Math teacher’s manual, Writing with Skill, and Spelling Power manuals here.

Something new we are doing this year is the Scripture Memory Box system from Simply Charlotte Mason. I pulled out an old index card box and added in some tabbed index card dividers and regular index cards to help us memorize our Bible verses this year.

The bottom of the cart holds a placemat map, magazines that the kids can use for projects, and my hole punches.

Homeschool Cart Organization

I kept our organization simple with a couple of magazine holders for my teacher’s manuals. Anything with a hardback fit nicely in the cart on its own.

Since the carts are metal, I have seen people use magnetic containers to hold small objects. You could store your pencils and pens on the sides, too. I have a crawling baby, so that’s a no-go in my house right now.

I love the ease of the homeschool rolling cart and how it makes all of my current morning time books easily accessible. I am still utilizing a morning basket for my younger kids. We have really loved the concept of morning time.
