How To Throw a Kids’ Game Themed Birthday Party

My third born recently turned 5 years old. I can’t believe how quickly the time is flying and how fast my babies are growing up. My number 3 is the joker of the family. He loves to play games. When I started brainstorming kids’ birthday party themes for him, I thought a fun kids’ game themed birthday party would be perfect! This party was simple to put together. SIMPLE is my thing, you know. With a few DIY decorations and treats, and the best kids’ games out there we had a blast!  

Kids’ Game Themed Birthday Party Ideas

Here’a a look at our table. Set up was easy. I used a blue plastic tablecloth and decorated our table with the treats and the games. You can’t get any simpler than that!

I purchased one of those camera booth set ups with a background and props for the kids to use for pictures.

I used rice krispy treats and black icing to create domino treats.

It was definitely easy to pull this snack together.

The cupcakes were homemade, too. I just used a box cake mix and decorated them with white icing.

We inserted chocolate chips upside down to make each cupcake look like dice.

The backdrop for the party came from the photo booth prop set, and the banner was made with a dollar store banner decoration, and playing cards taped in between each pom.

We had a smorgasbord of awesome games from Goliath Games and Pressman Toys.

First, let’s talk about Pop the Pig®. My kids saw a commercial for this game and have been begging me to get it for them, so they were so excited that it was at our party. This game requires no batteries, and offers hours of fun. Each child feeds the pig and watches his belly grow. The child who “pops the pig” loses the game. The game is easily reset by pumping the pig’s head once. 

Shark Bite was another fun game. The kids had to fish the creatures out of the shark’s mouth, but they had to be careful not to pull the wrong fish and get bitten by the shark!

Doggie Doo was by far the most popular game. Now, I have several little boys, so they thought this one was just hilarious. All you do is feed the doggie, and take turns spinning the spinner. Pump the leash. Listen carefully for the doggie’s gassy sounds and when he has a do, clean it up and get a toot token. The game isn’t messy at all, and seriously all of the kids thought it was funny! 

We also played Catch the Fox. So, roll the die and place that many chickens in the fox’s pockets. When he has too many chickens in his pants, they’ll fall down and you have to hustle to pick up the chickens and put them in your coop! First to fill their coop wins!

Giggle Wiggle was another favorite. This was the only one that required batteries. Race to the top by placing your colored marbles in the caterpillars hands. He will knock the marbles off, but pick them up and put them back in his hands. Get all your marbles on and win!

All of the kids really enjoyed playing the games. Afterwards, we opened gifts and had our cupcakes, but the kids went right back to the games!
