Wow, I’m almost halfway through this pregnancy. It is flying by so fast. I figured I would start tracking this pregnancy now that I’m feeling better. There’s nothing like having a written record of your pregnancy to look back on. I’m feeling better and much rounder these days.
At 18 weeks pregnant the average baby is around 5 1/2 inches long and weighs about 7 ounces. The most exciting recent development is that I can feel this baby move a lot more now. He or she is getting very strong and giving me some good jabs!
Sis absolutely loves to kiss my belly. I’m not too sure she really understands there is a baby in my belly, but she still loves to hug and kiss my belly. She has also really taken an interest in other babies. Whenever we see a baby while we are out and about she has to point it out. She’s also started playing more with her baby dolls.
Bug tells me all of the time that he loves the baby and he talks about the old baby toys we have around the house going to the new baby when he or she gets here. I’m excited that he understands what’s going on and I know he will be an awesome big brother of two.
Well, we are going to have an anatomy ultrasound on June 25th. I really wanted to hold off on finding out the sex, but Mr. Simple has insisted that he wanted to know whether I did or now. So, we made the decision to go ahead and find out as long as the tech can tell. I’m getting really excited to find out. I have a hunch it’s another baby girl, so we will see if I’m right! Of course, I really do not have a preference and a boy would be great, too!
I’m getting the itch to do some shopping. I won’t be decorating a nursery this time, but I can still buy a few things here and there. We are currently renting this home and baby will share our room with us. We will possibly move once this lease is up and hopefully we can get one child in their own room and then the two that are the same sex will share a room. I really do not need to buy a lot for this baby. Just an infant car seat and possibly a good swing. I’m also looking to expand my cloth diaper stash (which I’ll talk about in a later post) and buy a good, used Ergo baby carrier.
I’ve decided to participate in My Joy-Filled Life’s My Pregnancy Journal, so look for weekly updates from here on out. I think I answered a good majority of the topics in my post above, but I did want to address her discussion question:
After this baby is born, do you plan on having more children, not having more children, planning to wait a certain amount of time before you have another, or just letting God decide? What’s your motive behind your decision? And if you plan on stopping or waiting, what will you use as family planning and/or birth control?
I have thought a lot about this and I can honestly say that I do not know right now. Mr. Simple would love to have four children. When I was going through constant morning sickness and exhaustion I thought to myself there is no way I can do this again. Now that I feel better, I can say that I can possibly imagine doing this another time. I have a difficult time with traditional birth control and typically follow the natural family planning method for avoiding pregnancy.
Well, that’s all for now. New babies are so exciting!
