I can’t believe it’s already August and the back to school rush has begun! In reality, this is one of my favorite seasons because I love to plan our school year, but I know many other moms often dread the craziness that surrounds sending kids back to school. What things do you need to take care of before your child rides off on the big yellow bus, or you sit down to school them yourself? I’ve come up with 5 tips for preparing for a new homeschool year.

5 Tips for Preparing for a New School Year
Schedule important appointments.
I use the summertime to make sure we get all of our major appointments out of the way. These include well child check-ups, dental check-ups, and vision appointments. I am no stranger to vision appointments, and now my oldest son is following in my footsteps!
Right now JCPenney Optical is our choice for back to school eye wear for me and my son. For only $39.99, you can score a pretty cool set of frames, impact resistant lenses, and an eyewear protection plan just for your kid, you cannot go wrong. There are some pretty awesome brands available for both kids and parents. You’ll find Ray Ban, Armani Exchange, and Converse for kids among many others.

Don’t forget to enter the JCPenney Optical Back-to-School Photo Contest for the chance to win some awesome prizes from JCPenney Optical, and JCPenney Portraits. Photos must show only one person and glasses are a bonus!

They even have great frames for Mom and Dad!

Save on Back to School Supplies
August is the perfect month to stock up on school supplies. I take this opportunity to restock all of our homeschool supply needs. I get crayons for .50 a box, colored pencils, scissors, glue sticks, rulers, and more all at a great discount. If you have the extra funds, buy more than you need to begin with and put the rest away until you need them!

Stock Up on Clothes for the Upcoming Season
Right now is a great time to stock up on clothes. You can get summer clothes on clearance and score a few deals on clothes for the upcoming season. My favorite way to shop for my kids’ clothes is with consignment sales. I can also sell all of our outgrown clothes and make my money back!
Set Up a Snack Station
My kids love snacks and I think the majority of children out there do, too! So, I set up a fun little snack station in our kitchen. The kids know that after we finish lessons they can choose two items from the snack station. This is also a great idea for kids who are just coming home from school.
Put a Plan in Place
With all of the appointments, schedule changes, and new routines it can be hard to juggle everything. You have to put a plan in place! To keep up with my home, I use my Clean and Organized Home binder so all of my cleaning and organizing routines are in one spot. I also use a traditional planner for my homemaking needs that tracks all of our appointments and my business commitments!

Now that you know how to prepare for a new school year, put it all together!
