7th Grade Homeschool Curriculum Choices 2025-2026

As we head into a new homeschool year, I’m sharing our 7th grade homeschool curriculum choices! This year, we’re continuing with Mater Amabilis curriculum, which gives our homeschool that beautiful Charlotte Mason homeschool structure while leaving room for flexibility.
If you’re also homeschooling middle schoolers or simply looking for ideas, I hope this post gives you a helpful look into what we’re using and why.
Why We Chose Mater Amabilis for 7th Grade
I’ve found Mater Amabilis to be a wonderful fit for our family, especially as my older children transition into more independent work. It’s Catholic, rich in living books, and offers just enough guidance without feeling boxed in.
7th grade marks a shift in maturity and responsibility, so I’ve selected materials that reflect those growing capabilities while still keeping our homeschool grounded in beauty, truth, and goodness.

Family Subjects
We do several subjects together in the morning as a family during our morning time. These include our prayers, hymns, folksongs, artist study, composer study, some poetry, Shakespeare, Plutarch, and current events. We also do nature study as a family. I have no handicrafts assigned as of yet, but my kids are always helping with chores, doing other life skills, and trying new crafts and ideas.
Homeschooling a 7th grader can feel like stepping into a new world. They’re not quite little kids anymore, but not quite ready for high school either. I’ve found that this in-between stage is full of opportunities for growth, deep conversation, and meaningful work.
Mater Amabilis helps me provide a rich, well-rounded education without feeling like I need to do it all. I hope this glimpse into our curriculum gives you a few ideas and some peace about planning your own homeschool year.

Do you have a routine/schedule you’ve posted as to how you cover all of this, on top of family studies? I’m assuming not all are done daily, so what sort of rhythm do you have to get through it all?
My schedule will be coming out in the next few weeks. Most of these subjects for this grade level will be done independently by my son. I will check his narrations and other work, help as needed, and help him set up his science labs, but I’ll cover all of that in the future blog post and YT video.
