As we begin another homeschool year, I’m excited to share what we’re using for 2nd grade! This year, we’re following Mater Amabilis Level 1A Year 1, a Catholic Charlotte Mason curriculum that’s full of rich literature, beautiful living books, and a peaceful rhythm that works well for our family.
Mater Amabilis offers a structured yet flexible framework, which makes it easy to adapt to our needs while keeping the heart of a Charlotte Mason education alive in our home.

I Can Do All Things
My 2nd grader will also join us for all of the riches subjects during our morning time. I will share about our family subjects in a later blog post.
These items are spread throughout our year, so we have short, meaningful lessons. I love giving my kids such a wide and varied education.
I hope this peek into our 2nd grade homeschool plans is helpful if you’re planning your own year. Whether you’re using Mater Amabilis or another curriculum, I encourage you to follow your family’s natural rhythms, focus on connection, and savor the beauty of these early years.
Have you used Mater Amabilis or a Charlotte Mason approach in your homeschool? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!
