Now I’m Reading leveled readers

I’ve mentioned these in my kindergarten phonics curriculum haul. They have really helped my son who is just finishing up first grade. He was dreading reading until I got these Now I’m Reading leveled readers. He loves the stories, and that really helps him actually want to read. They are all about animals, so he usually ends up laughing while he’s reading. 

Each set comes with a parent guide and stickers for the child each time he finishes a story. It’s been so motivating for my son that I’m going to continue purchasing these!

Highlights High Five Magazine

I used to get Highlights when I was a kid, so when my Nana asked if I wanted her to order it for my kids, I was excited!  The High Five magazine is geared towards children ages 2-6. The kids love the hidden pictures puzzle that is in each magazine. There are also lots of cute stories, poems, and some other puzzles and games. The last thing in each magazine is either a craft or a recipe. We always have fun doing those together. 

My Big Book of 5 Minute Devotions

This book actually came with our My Father’s World First Grade curriculum, but my kids loved it so much, I thought I would share it. My Big Book of 5 Minute Devotions can be purchased on its own. It literally takes five minutes to do a devotion with your kids. Each devotion is centered on an animal and you read about the traits of that particular animal and it ties into traits that God wants for us. There are also a few fun questions you can ask your kids, too, for great discussions. My kids begged to do this every day. It’s that good!

ABCmouse.com

I recently purchased a subscription to ABCmouse.com for my kids. It was around $60 for one year for three of my kids. They have had so much fun with this app. I plan to do a full review in a couple of weeks, but the app can be used on Kindle, iPad, iPhone, and the computer. I’m sure it can also be used on other devices. 

You choose the skill level of your child and they complete lessons on their “learning path.” Children stay motivated by earning tickets, that they can use to buy certain things in the app. For example, each child has a pet hamster in the game and they can buy pieces for a maze for their hamster. My kids have so much fun buying new pieces and constructing the maze.
