Baking cookies with kids | simplelivingmama.com

Welcome back to another month of the Poppins Book Nook! This month’s theme is To The Kitchen! I originally chose the book Pecan Pie Baby by Jaqueline Woodson with the intentions of making a pecan pie with the kids. The story was absolutely adorable, but I ran out of time to get the ingredients for pecan pie! We ended up baking cookies with kids, and it was still just as fun!

Pecan Pie Baby is a story about a little girl and her mom, who is expecting a baby. I thought it would be cute for my kids because I am also expecting another baby. The little girl is not happy about her new sibling, but ends up accepting the new baby when she realizes that she, her mom, and the baby can bond over their love for pecan pie.

I really don’t like pecan pie much, so I chose a very simple sugar cookie recipe to bake with the kids. I actually cook with my kids every day. They are always with me in the kitchen, so this was nothing new to us!

We had a lot of fun mixing up the batter.

Of course, we had to sneak a little taste.

And then snack on our cookies!

Get in the kitchen and bake something with your kids this holiday season!
