It’s a whole new year and time to refresh our homeschool morning basket. You know I love sharing our morning time topics with you all, and everything we are doing to check off those wonderful Charlotte Mason subjects we love so much. In the past we used the Homeschool Garden, which was sold and changed, but building Charlotte Mason morning time plans on your own is possible, too!

Charlotte Mason Homeschool Morning Basket
I’m currently really using a combination of my laptop, a basket, and my rolling cart for morning time. Most of our information is right on the laptop through The Homeschool Garden, which saves me on paper. I do keep our Bible, read-alouds, and any other books we are currently reading in a basket and some are located on my rolling cart. I’m always flexible when it comes to how we do things.
Bible – We use My Father’s World as our main curriculum and are reading through the Old Testament.
Memory Work – We are working on memorizing Psalm 23.
Read-Alouds – Several of our read-alouds don’t correspond with The Homeschool Garden. We are reading A Cry From Egypt, which goes with MFW, Stuart Little for fun, and we read our science books with our science lessons.
Hymn Study – We will be memorizing “Fairest Lord Jesus.”
Folksong – “The Village Blacksmith” is our folksong this session.
Artist Study – Our artist is John Ruskin.
Poetry Study – Our poet during this session is George MacDonald.
Composer Study – We will be listening to pieces by Felix Mendelsshon.
Nature Study – Our assigned nature study is on The Lake District.
Shakespeare – We will be reading Cymbeline from The Homeschool Garden. You can also read great Shakespeare stories in a book like Tales from Shakespeare.
Art Lesson – Our art lesson is a drawing of goldenrod. I always look forward to completing these lessons with the kids.
Handicraft – I have really developed a love of handicrafts lately. We will be doing a melt and pour soap this session.
Homeschool Morning Time Menus
I started using menus for holding pieces of memory work and other important things we use during morning time. I love it!
Our morning time menu for this session holds Psalm 23 from Mama Jenn. This is our memory work from My Father’s World. We also have biographies of George MacDonal and Felix Mendelsshon from THG, our hymn, folksong, and then two Catholic prayers that we are learning, Hail Mary and Glory Be.
We now offer Morning Time Menu printables! These are beautifully designed printables to help enrich your child’s morning time! Check out our Garden Morning Time Menu printables.
