Easter is absolutely one of my favorite holidays. Not only is it the most important holiday in my faith, it’s also such a beautiful time to sit and reflect on rebirth and renewal as a family. Sure, we love all of the regular Easter traditions, but I think the things we will remember the most about each Easter is coming together as a family after church and eating a delicious meal.
Any good homemaker knows these holiday celebrations don’t just magically happen on their own. They take preparation and planning. Today, I’m sharing with you my Easter planning checklist and all of the things I do to make our Easter day go as smoothly as possible.
Two to Three Weeks Before Easter
Two or three weeks before Easter, I begin planning! If we are inviting guests, I will make the guest list.
It’s time to plan the meal, so I’ll decide on the entree, sides, and dessert. I always make my Easter egg fruit pizza. For breakfast, my kids love the Easter bunny cinnamon rolls.
This is also the time I’ll start shopping. I’ll look for plastic Easter eggs, candy, anything I want to put in the kids’ Easter baskets, and I’ll typically buy disposable dinnerware to make clean up easier.
We don’t decorate for Easter until Easter day, so I’ll make sure I have all of my decorations organized and out of storage. I’ll also plan all of the kids’ Easter clothing options.
The Week Before Easter
The week before Easter is a great time to make place cards for your Easter table, and get those Easter eggs filled.
This is also a great time to assemble Easter baskets. Several years ago I made a themed Spider-Man Easter basket for my son. That was so much fun!
Now is also the time you’ll want to deep clean your home. If you’re not following my cleaning routine, you’ll definitely want to check it out because you’ll always have a fairly clean home. You’ll also want to make sure your bathroom is in order for guests.
Don’t forget now is when you’ll want to buy all necessary groceries for your Easter meal.
The Night Before Easter
The night before Easter you’ll want to set out the Easter baskets after the kids go to bed, of course.
You’ll also want to make sure the table is ready, so you may want to wash the tablecloth, prep any food that you possibly can, put out the clothes everyone is going to wear the next day, and do a quick 30 minute tidy of the home.
Print these cute Easter placemats for the kids.
The Day of Easter
On the day of Easter finish preparing the meal and set everything out! Don’t forget to take lots of pictures and enjoy the moment.
You can also print our Easter color by number sheets to help entertain the kids while you get last minute preparations done!
