We just welcomed a new baby, so we haven’t done a lot of extras with the units in My Father’s World, but we are finally winding down. We just finished F is for Frog and X is for Fox in My Father’s World kindergarten.
F is for Frog – My Father’s World Kindergarten
I like to use YouTube when I can, and this video explained the frog life cycle very well. Our main focus this week was on learning this life cycle. Bug did such a good job even though he was honestly not very interested. Apparently, frogs are not his thing.
I love Frog and Toad, so we read the story together. We also read Beatrix Potter’s “The Tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher.” These stories are so adorable and I think every child should hear them!
Here’s Bug’s illustration of the frog life cycle.
My favorite part of this unit was our words to remember. The kids are still talking about “using their tongues wisely” and only saying nice things.
X is for Fox – My Father’s World Kindergarten
We then started the fox unit. Once again, Bug was not too interested.
We watched The Fox and the Hound on Netflix.
He classified animals by habitat.
We read The Tale of Jemima Puddle Duck and he illustrated a fox.
And…we got our first grade curriculum! After a lot of debate, I’m sticking with MFW. More on that in another post!
Don’t forget to check out what we did in the other units!
