I have always enjoyed creating free coloring pages for you all and sharing them on the blog. It’s been a while, so I decided to create a set of Ten Commandments coloring pages that are just perfect for your homeschool or even Sunday school! As Christian parents, it is definitely important the we teach our children about the Ten Commandments, and one of the simple ways to teach them is with coloring pages.

These bible coloring pages are great for bulletin boards, wall displays, or just handing out to your kids to color while you read your morning bible story.

Here’s a look at what is included with these Ten Commandments coloring sheets and the order of the Ten Commandments:

The cover page includes two stone tablets that Moses wrote the Ten Commandments on after he heard the voice of God on Mount Sinai.

  • The First Commandment – You shall have no other gods before me. This is a picture of man representing God in the sky.
  • The Second Commandment – You shall not make idols. This is a picture of a cow that represents the golden calf that may have been worshipped.
  • The Third Commandment – You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. This commandment is represented by two children shushing themself so as not to speak against God.
  • The Fourth Commandment – Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. This commandment is represented with a picture of a church.
  • The Fifth Commandment – Honor your father and mother. Here you’ll find a picture of a mother and father with a baby.
  • The Sixth Commandment – You shall not murder. Here you’ll see a picture of a mean child touching the back of a sad child.
  • The Seventh Commandment – You shall not commit adultery. This commandment is represented with wedding bands.
  • The Eighth Commandment – You shall not steal. Here you’ll find a picture of a boy stealing something from a candy machine.
  • The Ninth Commandment – You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. This coloring sheet is depicted by a child speaking badly about another child.
  • The Tenth Commandment – You shall not covet. This commandment is represented by a girl looking at her friend’s purse and wishing she had it for herself.

One of the best ways to teach the Ten Commandments with a group of students is to choose ten kids and give one coloring sheet to each child, and then have them line up in order of the Ten Commandments and read their sheet aloud.

Ten Commandments Lesson Plans

The entire point of the Ten Commandments is to teach us right from wrong. If you want to make a lesson plan out of the Ten Commandments, your objective should be for your child to realize what is right and wrong.

If you are a Christian mother you will teach your children that their heavenly father loves them and wants what is best for them, and the Ten Commandments act as a guide for how we should live a moral life.

This bible lesson is definitely one of the most important. Hopefully you’ve taught the story of Moses before getting to this lesson so children will understand the biblical history behind the Ten Commandments.

You can use these bible story printables to create your child’s own coloring book and then incorporate even more lessons. Here are some ideas to get you going:

If you’re teaching older students, they may not be interested in coloring pages. I would suggest using some bible verse cards to help with memorization. Of course, if they like to color, let them!
