Sometimes it can be tricky to start a homeschool day. Morning time is the perfect way to transition from regular day at home to homeschool day. Our morning time is two-fold. We begin our day with a morning or learning board, and also our homeschool morning basket. This is the time that the whole family gets together to do memory work, Bible time, and read poetry or look at art work. We also do some fun songs and just begin our day in a good place.
Our Morning Board
I’ll start off by showing you guys our morning board. I used a simple trifold board from Walmart to create this board. I decided to do this so I could easily put it away when we aren’t using it to minimize the damage done to it by my toddlers.
We talk about the season, the weather, and we do a little weather graph each day.
I like to do memory work, so I will write the poem, nursery rhyme, or Scripture we are memorizing on a large index card and place it in a pocket that I made from half of a page protector. Our We Choose Virtues character card is also stored in half of a page protector.
We do calendar, go over our address and phone number, make the date with coins, and keep up with our days in school. I have little songs I sing for the days of the week and the months of the year.
We also talk about the time, sing our ABC’s, and use the 100 chart to count by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s.
Homeschool Morning Basket
Here’s a look at our morning basket.
I keep our poetry books, nursery rhyme books, and art books in here to peruse before we begin our homeschool day.
I also use these scripture and prayer cards from The Relaxed Mom Homeschool Planner.
And that’s pretty much it. I will occasionally do read-aloud time during our morning time, too. We don’t spend a lot of time on morning time, but it is a wonderful way to transition into our homeschool day.

I love this idea! We just started our circle time again to incorporate my almost 2 year old. We do prayer, Bible story, songs, weather and then she seems to be cooperative while I work with the older two. I like the memory work portion, I should add that.

I looove the morning board so much! I think we are going to have to make one very similar?
