Who doesn’t love starting a new week with a fresh and clean home with everything all ready to go? If you feel like you’ve been scrambling on Monday mornings with a messy home and the things you need to start your week are hard to find, you need a Sunday reset.
Sunday resets are super popular all over social media right now, but I believe they have always existed. I can even remember my parents doing some last minute cleaning on Sundays, prepping meals for the week, and making sure all of the laundry was washed for the week ahead.
As a homemaker, I love to use Sundays for little preparations that will help kick-start our week off right. In today’s blog post, I’m going to go over some ideas for your Sunday reset as a homemaker. You definitely don’t have to do all of these things in one day!
How To Do a Sunday Reset for the Home
If you follow my monthly cleaning calendars, you know I don’t plan big cleaning projects for Sundays. We get most of our cleaning done throughout the week, but Sundays are a great day to do a little catching up and to put the finishing touches on anything we may have been working on throughout the week.
I’m going to divide these Sunday reset ideas into different categories. These are going to be things you can do fairly quickly for some quick wins in getting your home in good shape for the week.
Planning for the Week
Let’s start with our planning for the week. I do quite a bit of my planning on Sundays. I love to use my Homemaker’s Friend Daily Planner to keep track of all of our monthly, weekly, and daily to-do’s. I do have some free daily planning sheets here on the blog, too!
I will write down any appointments we have for the week, phone calls I need to make, and things I need to remember to do or buy.
My husband and I also do a budget meeting on Sunday evenings and I work on my meal plan for the week ahead.
This is also a great time to plan outfits for the week, and if you have young kids, you can plan out their outfits, too!
Simple Decluttering and Cleaning
Because we have already done all of our cleaning throughout the week, we will just do some simple decluttering and light cleaning on Sunday. Here’s what that looks like:
- Clear off counters and tables
- Wipe down counters and tables
- Sweep floors
- Spot clean surfaces
- Wipe down the refrigerator
- Put away toys and other stray items
- Make your bedroom a haven! Tidy the whole bedroom, wipe down your nightstands, and put clean, fresh sheets on the bed!
Meal Prep
I personally don’t do a lot of meal prep on Sundays, but you may enjoy meal prepping! Here are some things you can meal prep on Sundays:
- Cut up fruit and vegetables for the week (I love this vegetable chopper)
- Cook meats for the week
- Create snack packs for the kids (These reusable snack pack containers look interesting and here are some stainless steel options).
- Bake your family’s baked goods for the week (Some make loaves of bread, muffins, bagels, or cookies).
Laundry Catch-Up
The last area we are going to work on for our Sunday Reset for the home is the laundry! I don’t know about you, but I fall behind on the laundry frequently. Now is a good time to do a load or two to catch up, and make sure it all gets put away! You probably want to wash all of your towels, so you have those good to go for the week, too!
In our family, Sunday is a day of rest, so I try to get as much done on every other day of the week as possible, here’s how my Sunday reset currently looks:
- Planning in my Homemaker’s Friend Daily Planner
- Homeschool Planning
- Laundry Catch-Up (I’m usually just putting away clean clothes)
- Bedroom tidy and fresh sheets on the bed
- Clear and wipe down counters and tables
- Light a candle and relax for the evening!
