Remembering the Fallen

Memorial Day is probably a little different for those of us with military ties than it is for the general population. I guess because it’s much more personal. While we can commemorate with BBQs and trips to the lake, there’s always a feeling of remembering those who have been lost in war.

While my husband is currently deployed, he is also an Iraq War vet. He went to Iraq at the very beginning of the war in 2003. It was that deployment that he lost one of his very good friends. Our youngest child is named for him. We have spent a few Memorial Days visiting his grave. It is a very somber experience, but we must remember the sacrifice made for us.

I don’t have very much to say today. While it is wonderful to thank those who serve and are still here, please take the time today to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Say a prayer for them and the families and friends they have left behind.
