Whether your culture has a love for a specific type of food or your family has delicious recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation, there is no doubt that food connects us. One of the best ways to preserve the tastes and dishes that we love so much is with recipes. A recipe gives us a blueprint for particular dishes we grew up or eating, or new recipes that we just want to try. But, how do we store those recipes for future use? Today I’m going to share with you some awesome recipe storage ideas so you can preserve your favorite recipes!

The Best Way to Store Recipes

When it comes to creating a place to store your most cherished recipes, you definitely have a lot of options. From creating a physical recipe book or binder to storing all of your favorite recipes digitally, there is a recipe storage system for you.

Recipe Book

One of my very favorite ways to store recipes is with a recipe book. My Nana actually gave me a cherished recipe book that she made herself shortly after I got married. It’s full of family favorite recipes that were usually on our table every holiday.

DIY Recipe book

Each recipe is protected with sheet protectors and the recipe book is divided into categories so I can easily find what I’m looking for. My recipe book is actually a three ring binder, so I’ve been able to add my own recipes and recipes I get from other family members. She even gave me some extra recipe pages so that I can add handwritten recipes and new favorites.

I really think preserving the recipes in page protectors is the way to go if you are creating your own recipe keeper book.

Recipe Organizer

Let’s talk about a recipe organizer. A recipe organizer can be a large binder like the above mentioned recipe book. You can not only create your own pages for the recipe organizer, but also use plastic sleeves to hold recipe cards or loose recipes from magazines or the newspaper.

Recipe Box

An easy method of storing recipes is the age old recipe box. A recipe box provides easy access to tried and true recipes that you write down on index cards or any other recipe cards you happen to have. Typically you would have your recipe collection divided with tabbed dividers by category so you can easily find the card you need.

There are so many beautiful recipe boxes on the market. I especially love this one. I think a recipe box is a great way to a lot of recipes while reducing bulk when you’re actually in the kitchen cooking.

Accordion Recipe Storage

Similar to a recipe box, an accordion file folder is a physical recipe storage system. You can label each folder in the accordion file by category such as side dishes, main dishes, etc. and then store your recipe cards, printed recipes, and recipe clippings accordingly.

Digital Recipe Storage

There’s no denying that digital storage is a simple and easy solution to your recipe storage needs. Most recipes can easily be found online these days, so it’s natural to want a place to corral all of those digital recipes.

One way you can store your recipes online is through your Pinterest boards. If you’re an active Pinterest user you can simple create one Pinterest board per category and keep all of your recipes there.

What if you don’t want to use Pinterest? There are several different websites and recipe apps to use as your online recipe organizer.

My favorite app is the Paprika recipe manager. This app allows you to organize your recipes, make meal plans, and create shopping lists. It allows you to access the app on any of your devices. There is a fee for this service, but it is highly recommended.

Meal Planning Pages

One of my favorite ways to keep track of recipes is with my printable meal planning pages. I keep them in my home management binder and use them to track any recipes that I try out and my family approves. I think change is good and like to mix things up with new recipes, so having a hard copy of what we try is always a good idea.

I keep those meal planning pages sort of like I would a recipe journal. It’s also a really good place to keep dinner ideas, favorite family recipes, and any grocery lists you like to keep on hand.

I just love keeping recipes and there are so many ways to store your recipes for future use. Which one is your favorite way?
