The Good and the Beautiful Convention Recap and Haul

Oh my goodness! I just got back from a wonderful weekend in Utah with my husband and our youngest child. We attended The Good and the Beautiful Convention for 2019 and I am honestly so encouraged and so refreshed! I know some of you are anxious to hear all the details AND see all of the new curriculum I got. I was in heaven there while shopping. All of the beautiful curriculum was so wonderful.

First of all, let’s talk about the location! The convention was held in Lehi, UT amongst gorgeous snow-capped mountains. I have been to Salt Lake City once in my life and the mountains were just as majestic as I remembered. The convention was held at Thanksgiving Point, which was just gorgeous. We had two big days of presentations with plenty of time to mingle and shop.

I loved listening to Jenny speak and she even sang for us twice. The first day we were there she actually changed her cardigan a couple of times and made a joke about how everyone was asking how often she was going to change her cardigan.

 I had a chuckle because I love cardigans and my husband pokes fun at me about them. When I said, “See, even Jenny Phillips wears cardigans,” he replied, “Well, Joanie, I think we are with your kind of people.” Yes, we were with my people!

My favorite presentation from the first day was from Mikael Monson of Monson Schoolhouse. She is just so funny. I had no idea she would have all of us rolling. I felt so encouraged and inspired to keep doing this homeschool thing. That homeschooling is the right decision for our family. I was called by God to be a homeschool mom.

I met up with a small group of influencers and learned there’s a whole community of Instagrammers out there promoting TGTB. I’m trying to up my Instagram game and had a blast talking to some of the ladies. I was also among YouTubers like Grace and Grit and Fall Co Family. I think I may have been the only blogger there!

Jenny gave us all a tour of the warehouse where all of The Good and the Beautiful is packaged and sent to you! I think the warehouse was something like 10,000 square feet. 

I can’t even remember all of the statistics that Jenny told us, but the company has grown by 1000% in the last year. I think that is a testament to how needed this company is in the homeschool world and how many families are finding such success.

The next day of the convention was just so much fun! The first presentation was all about traveling affordably with kids. I was amazed at the tips I picked up and walked away with the idea that maybe my travel dreams aren’t so far fetched. I also learned more about teaching foreign languages and was inspired by Jenny’s presentation on good and beautiful books. I think my husband was most interested in the presentation Jenny did on fostering creativity in our children and limiting screen time. He immediately set up new screen time limits when we got home. Overall, it was such an amazing, inspiring, and encouraging conference!
