Not too long ago, I wrote a post about why I give birth in the hospital. Since then, I haven’t changed my mind about that, but I have been thinking a lot about my birthing options. For my past two births I have gone with the status quo, but something keeps pulling me to explore natural birth. Maybe it’s the fact that God designed a woman’s body to go through labor and delivery. We are meant to do this and a huge part of me wants to experience it in its entirety.
I have been following along with The Humbled Homemaker’s series on natural pregnancy and labor and have really been inspired to talk to my OB about her views on unmedicated hospital birth. A part of me feels like she’s going to look at me like I’m nuts, but we will soon see.
I have also discovered a group of doulas that are close to me and I have contacted them.
In the coming weeks, I plan to write out my first two birth stories. While both births were inductions that included epidurals, they were very different. You’ll see why I’m thinking more and more about natural childbirth, too.
Until then, I’m looking into all of the resources I can possibly find. I can’t wait to read Unbound Birth, which is about birthing naturally in the hospital.
I already mentioned The Humbled Homemaker’s series on natural pregnancy and it looks like Modern Alternative Pregnancy was just launched. It’s sure to include a wealth of information.
So, I know this post is short and sweet because I don’t know too much on the topic. Do I have any readers here who have experienced unmedicated births? Can anyone point me towards some resources? I’d love all the help and advice you have to offer!
