Welcome back to another edition of What’s In My Homeschool Morning Basket! We started our new school year just a couple of weeks ago, so I’m excited to share with you some of the changes we made to our morning time. So without further ado, here is a look at our August homeschool morning basket!

Take a look at what's in our homeschool morning basket...er, cart!

Homeschool Morning Basket

The first big change is that I am using my rain gutter bookshelf to display our history read-alouds. These read-alouds are part of our homeschool morning time. We are currently studying Creation with MFW Creation to the Greeks, so we are reading Life in the Great Ice Age (excellent), Dinosaurs of Eden (fascinating), and will soon add in our Usborne Ancient World Encyclopedia. Homeschool mamas, I am really loving the ages of my older kids (10, 8, and 6) and the intellectual discussions we are having about history.

Next, you’ll notice I am using a cart instead of a basket. There’s just so much I like to have accessible and a basket wasn’t cutting it anymore. This cart came from Michael’s. I’m sure I will continue to tweak the way it is set-up. I’d like to get some magnetic pencil holders or something like that in the future when my toddlers aren’t so grabby. I did have our supply caddy in this cart, but it’s having to go up on a higher shelf for now!

Here’s a look at the top of the caddy. These are items we use just about every day. Our family Bible from MFW, everyone’s personal Bible, devotionals, beginner books (not used in the morning, but here to be found easily), Musical Multiplication, a dictionary, English from the Roots Up because we are studying Greek, my teacher’s manual, and my Homeschool Garden morning time binder.

The rest of the caddy just contains a hole punch and stapler, a placemat map, and several coloring books for my younger kids.

Finally, I want to go over what we are doing with The Homeschool Garden.

This month we are working on the Astronomy session.

Memory Work

Our memory work is from My Father’s World. We are learning 2 Timothy 3 16-17 and memorizing all of the books of the Bible.

Artist Study

We are studying works by Wassily Kandinsky.

Composer Study

Gustav Holst

Poetry

The Charge of the Light Brigade

O Captain! My Captain!

Folksong

Stars and Stripes Forever

Hymn

How Great Thou Art

Shakespeare

Twelfth Night

We will be doing a handicraft, art lesson, nature study, and two poetry tea times in the afternoons. All are scheduled from The Homeschool Garden.

And that’s it! I will hopefully have more books for our book basket next month. We are still getting into a groove over here!

How would you like to win some money to buy things for your homeschool morning basket? I’m so excited about this giveaway!

It’s Back to (Home) School time!!
It’s that time of year, when many homeschoolers are busy preparing for a new school year.  Some of you may have already started your new year, and some of you may have never stopped!

I’ve gotten together with a great group of bloggers to make getting ready for the new school year just a little bit easier and hopefully a little less stressful on your wallet.  How does $250 sound in helping you buy curriculum, books, games, puzzles, and educational supplies?  Two people will win a $250 gift card to Christianbook.com!!

We know homeschooling can put financial strain on families – whether it’s from living on one-income or buying curriculum for your children – the financial aspect of it can be stressful.  Our hope is that we can bless a couple of homeschool families (although we wish we could bless many more) so they can buy the curriculum and supplies they need.

To enter for your chance to win, simply use the Rafflecopter form below to enter.  Now I know that is quite a few entries for you, but each of these bloggers has generously chipped in their own money to make this giveaway possible, so I hope you will take the time to do all of the entries.  And hey, the more entries you do, the better your odds are of winning!

Giveaway ends August 16th, 2019 at 11:59pm ET.  Must be at least 18 years of age.  Must be a resident of U.S. or Canada to enter.  Selected winners will have 48 hours to respond to email notification to claim their prizes or another winner will be drawn.  By entering this giveaway, you agree to be added to the email lists of the participating bloggers (see the Terms & Conditions on the Rafflecopter form for the complete list).
