“Mama, what’s for today’s dinner?” my daughter asks me this question nearly every day. My kids love food, and they especially love snacks! We all know kids love to snack, and it’s important to have wholesome snacks on hand. We usually have two snack times, mid-morning and mid-afternoon. So, how do you create a balanced snack that kids will love? I make a delicious yogurt fruit salad that is so easy to prepare ahead of time and pull out of the fridge to serve for a snack. This is part of my simple living recipes index.
Yogurt Fruit Salad

First, you will need to gather just a few simple ingredients.

You will need 1/2 cup yogurt. Any flavor will do, but we like strawberry. You’ll also need a banana, an apple, a mandarin orange, and 2 tsp. of lemon juice (not pictured).

Slice and dice all of the fruit.

Squeeze a couple of teaspoons of lemon juice onto the fruit to keep it from browning.

Mix in the yogurt. This recipe is incredibly simple, yet so yummy! You can store this fruit salad in the refrigerator for a couple of days.

My kids enjoy eating a few tablespoons of the fruit salad over a whole grain waffle for a balanced snack.

Our choice of drink during snack time is Capri Sun Organic. I love that my kids think Capri Sun Organic tastes great, and that it is a certified organic USDA juice drink that contains one serving of fruit. *(Each pouch contains 1/2 cup fruit juice). Plus, there is no added sugar, and no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. You can purchase Capri Sun Organic at any major retailer for $4.29 per 10 pouch pack. Available flavors include:
- Fruit Punch
- Tropical Punch
- Apple
- Grape

Our favorite so far is the Tropical Punch!
Don’t let snack time be a hassle. With a little prep work, you can have an easy yogurt fruit salad ready to go. Adding a whole grain waffle makes the snack nice and balanced, and the Capri Sun Organic tastes good and is fun to drink for the kids!
