You don’t have to go far to have a vacation. The hubs and I recently started our Total Money Makeover, which means we are doing some drastic things to cut our expenses. Just because we are trimming our budget does not mean we can’t enjoy the summer with our kids. We often take day trips to explore local parks and attractions that we have never visited. Whether you have a weekend, or an entire week off from work, I can show you how to plan a fun staycation!

Saving On Your Staycation

One way you can save money on your bills is to use the Walmart Family Mobile Plan. It’s so easy to find the phone you want in the store.

We got the ZTE ZMAX, which has some pretty awesome features. You can use it to map out your day trip and make a list of all the things you plan to do during your staycation! With 4G LTE service, finding your destination is easy peasy with the map app!

I recommend checking out your local state parks. We LOVE our state parks. It’s amazing how easy it is to get used to where you live. It’s almost as if you become blind to the beauty right outside your door. Map out your closest state park and go for a drive. Stop along the way at a favorite local restaurant, or take a picnic lunch!

This is a picture I took at the top of Mount Magazine. It is the highest point in the state of Arkansas. This picture does not do this view justice. It is absolutely breathtaking and it only took us a couple of hours to drive here. There is also a beautiful lodge here with a restaurant that serves the tastiest fried green beans you will ever find!

If you have kids, you know you better stop at a playground. My kids love exploring new playgrounds. The best thing? They are FREE! You can have a whole afternoon of entertainment for the cost of the gas it took to get you there!

It’s All About the People You’re With!

Honestly, it doesn’t matter where we go, as long as we are together. We can go explore the world with each other and have a great time! It’s amazing how little you actually have to spend out of pocket to make amazing memories.
