During my first pregnancy I heard of pregnancy tea, but I wasn’t much of a big tea drinker unless it was a glass of Southern sweet iced tea. After hearing all of the wonderful benefits of pregnancy tea because of the red raspberry leaf during pregnancy I decided to give it a try the next time around.

My second pregnancy found me drinking a hot cup of pregnancy tea here and there. I was mostly pregnant during the summer, so drinking hot tea wasn’t that appealing, but I did enjoy the taste of the tea and the way I felt relaxed while drinking it. Out of all of the pregnancy tips I’ve read, this one was most intriguing.

The Benefits of Pregnancy Tea

I have been drinking a lot more pregnancy tea this time around. I even found out it’s very yummy iced, too! I buy Traditional Medicinals Pregnancy Tea. I have found it at Whole Foods and in the natural section of Kroger. I’m sure you can order it online, too.

The Benefits of Pregnancy Tea

My pregnancy tea is mostly made up of raspberry leaf and strawberry leaf. It also contains nettle leaf, spearmint, bitter fennel, rose hip, alfalfa, and lemon verbena. It’s actually a very pleasant taste on its own, but I do like to add a little bit of local raw honey to sweeten it up.

Raspberry leaf is the magic herb for pregnancy. It is wonderful to drink as a tea before conception and during pregnancy. It’s benefits include:

  • It is packed with vitamins and minerals such as vitamins A, B, C, and D, and phosphorus  potassium, calcium, and iron.
  • It contains an alkoloid called fragine that is known for helping tone the muscles of the uterus, which could help make your labor easier.
  • The tea could help relieve morning sickness and improve blood circulation.
  • You can also drink the tea when you aren’t pregnant to help alleviate menstrual cramps.
  • Red raspberry tea is beneficial is helping to alleviate gastrointestinal problems like diarrhea, as well as cold symptoms.

Now that I’m further along in my pregnancy, I plan to alternate drinking a cup of pregnancy tea and a cup of just red raspberry leaf tea. Some days I only drink two cups of the teas, but my goal is to drink at least three cups a day.

I know I didn’t drink any pregnancy tea with my first pregnancy and my delivery was very difficult. With my second pregnancy, I drank pregnancy tea rather conservatively and my delivery was very swift and easy. I can’t say it was because of the tea, but who knows!

I LOVE Traditional Medicinals Pregnancy Tea. It’s my favorite! Try it with some raw honey
