Several years ago I began using a homeschool morning basket with my kids. Since then, it has become a cherished introduction to our day. Over the past two or so years, I have struggled to figure out a way to do a homeschool morning time that would accommodate all of my kids; preschool through high school.

I finally created a solution that would incorporate themed homeschool morning time menus for my younger kids, and include all of the riches I wanted to study with all of my kids! Introducing, my Homeschool Morning Time Menu Printables!

These beautiful homeschool morning time menu printables can be used with kids of all ages! The first sets that will be released are all seasonal, but I may continue adding more themes, as well.

Today I want to share our gorgeous seaside morning time printables with you. I’m also going to share with you how we are using them in our family, as well as ways you can use them, too!

The way we use our seaside morning time portables is two-fold. First, I create a morning time menu for my younger kids to work on basic skills. I choose from either manuscript or cursive depending on the child and add in calendar pages, an about me page, alphabet or number pages, and a weather page, and an emotion page for the kids to fill in each morning.

Next, I create a morning time packet for the rest of my kids. This packet is filled with all of the rest of the printable in our Seaside morning time printables.

Our packet includes poetry, Scripture copywork, a hymn, a folksong, our artist biography and note booking page, as well as four pieces of artwork and picture study note booking pages. There is also a sheet to create an acrostic poem and a writing prompt. All of these riches are looped through when we do our morning time.

I love the simplicity of themed morning time menu printables that I can add to a menu or create a packet for my younger kids, while also still having lots of freedom to add other subjects for our morning time.

Since I have such a wide range of ages that I’m homeschooling, I choose a few select subjects for us to do together, and those are completed during our morning time. Our morning basket holds our family read-aloud, an extra poetry book, a Spanish book, and a Shakespeare book. I also plan to add a short unit on the Constitution for the entire family to work together during morning time.

    Seaside Book Basket Ideas

One of the things I picked up from our time using My Father’s World was the concept of a book basket. This is separate from our morning basket, and it’s filled with books on the subjects we are studying in our homeschool. None of the books are required reading, rather they are to be flipped through and enjoyed. I may pull from the book basket during downtime to read to the kids, or they will look at the books during a specific quiet time during the day.

Here’s the list of books on the ocean theme that will be in our book basket while we work through our seaside plans. Keep in mind, I will also add books from our science and history plans to the basket, too! My goal is truly to spread a feast for my kids, not necessarily box us in to only one particular theme at a time for the whole of their education.

There are all kinds of activities you can include with your seaside morning time plans. If you’re doing an ocean or marine animal study, these plans will fit in perfectly with your science unit. Even if you’re not, these morning time printables are great for the beginning or end of summer.
