Welcome back to our homeschool curriculum week! Today we are going to talk about our third grade homeschool curriculum choices. It’s no surprise here, but we have mostly switched to The Good and the Beautiful for individual studies. Their language arts program is top notch in my opinion, and it has been such a blessing to our family.
Third Grade Language Arts
We are using The Good and the Beautiful Level 2 language arts to cover grammar, reading, spelling, etc. I recently finished this level with my oldest child and was just so impressed. My daughter flew through Level 1. I’m not sure how fast she will get through Level 2, but we are both excited. She says language arts is her favorite subject.
There is a reader included with the program, as well as some extra books.
Third Grade Math
We are using Teaching Textbooks for math for our older children. I love, love, love Teaching Textbooks. The kids have so much fun with it. I have written a review of our experience with Teaching Textbooks and how it took the tears my son and I were shedding over math and made us both so much happier! My daughter will be working through Level 3 of Teaching Textbooks.
Third Grade Handwriting
We are using The Good and the Beautiful Level 4 for handwriting. She did well with Level 3 and will be working on adding in some cursive. We love TGTB handwriting because it also includes some coloring and drawing.
Third Grade Typing
I will begin TGTB typing program with my daughter this year. We are going to begin with Typing 1.
Third Grade Foreign Language
I recently found out our library offers Rosetta Stone to patrons, so my daughter and I are both excited to learn French together. We have worked on Spanish in the past through Song School Spanish, but learning French is something I have always wanted to do and she has expressed interest in learning with me.
Third Grade Electives
Piano – We are using Hoffman Academy to learn piano. We like the free program!
Baking – My daughter will be taking a baking class every week this year. She is so excited about it!
Bible – We will be meeting monthly with some other homeschoolers for both a Bible and a geography class. We are so excited about this!
