Welcome back to homeschool curriculum choices week! This is our final post in this series. Today I am going to share with your our fifth grade homeschool curriculum choices! Not surprisingly, most of our curriculum for individual studies is from The Good and the Beautiful!
I actually began using the free PDF version of the Level 2 language arts with this child and was so impressed that I began branching out and using TGTB more and more. We now use it for most of our individual studies.
Fifth Grade Language Arts
My son will be completing Level 3 of The Good and the Beautiful. This is the last level of parent led instruction with TGTB language arts, so we are going to make sure he has a really good grasp on his reading, grammar, and spelling. This particular level works on challenging words and includes two readers which I’m sure we will enjoy!
Fifth Grade Math
We love Teaching Textbooks! My son will be finishing up Level 4 and moving into Level 5 of the online version of TT this year.
Fifth Grade Handwriting
We are using The Good and the Beautiful Level 6 for handwriting practice this year. I love TGTB’s handwriting program and how it provides some drawing and coloring skills, too! We are going to work on improving his cursive handwriting skills.
Fifth Grade Typing
Because my son does have experience with typing, we are going to start with Typing 2 from The Good and the Beautiful. This will be another lesson he can complete on his own while I am working with other children during the day.
Fifth Grade Foreign Language
Our library gives us access to Rosetta Stone, so we will be learning French together. I am excited about this!
Fifth Grade Electives
Our son has been in Boy Scouts for several years, so he will continue with his journey there. I am also looking into a Minecraft Mod class from SKrafty.
We do piano lessons with Hoffman Academy and my husband and I are also considering Taekwondo for the boys.
Aside from that we will meet with other homeschoolers once a month for a Bible and geography class.
