So, Thanksgiving is in just a couple of days! I went shopping for Thanksgiving food over the weekend, and I thought it would be fun to share with you what I got and our Thanksgiving meal plan! Now, large family meal planning on a budget is my thing. We are a family of eight with several little ones. We already had one Thanksgiving meal with extended family back in Arkansas. This Thanksgiving meal will be just for our immediate family. Let’s take a look at what I got:

Thanksgiving Meal Plan
Roast Turkey and homemade Turkey Gravy
We bought a 20 lb. Butterball turkey this year since last year we realized anything smaller just won’t do. I’m using this yummy injector marinade to give our turkey flavor and keep it juicy!
Dressing
My family always makes cornbread dressing from scratch. If I’m being honest, I’m not a huge dressing fan. I’m cheating this year and using this Pepperidge Farm stuffing mix. You can take a look at the best bread for stuffing on Thanksgiving, too!

My husband’s favorite holiday side dish, hands-down is hot rice. It’s so, so good. You’ve got to try it!
Green Bean Casserole
This green bean casserole is a timeless classic around our table. I use the recipe on the back of the French’s onions box. So incredibly simple, yet delicious!

We don’t have this recipe every year, but my kids specifically requested it, so we are adding baked macaroni and cheese to our Thanksgiving menu!
Mashed Potatoes
I’ll be making our mashed potatoes in the Instant Pot this year with this recipe. It’s so, so delicious and perfect for soaking up all of the delicious homemade turkey gravy!
My sister in law has brought these to our family Thanksgivings and they are very good. They are really like a dessert. The recipe linked above is the closest I could find.
Cranberry Sauce
I love the Pioneer Woman’s cranberry sauce, but I need to do easy this year, so we are using the canned cranberry sauce.
Rolls
We are going easy here with store bought rolls.
Apple Pie
Another easy dessert. My husband requested a store bought lattice apple pie.
My cast iron skillet pumpkin pie is easy and such a Thanksgiving classic!
My daughter wants to make these adorable treats.
She also requested these, so we got the ingredients for her to make them!
Baked Corn
I think I’m going to choose one of these delicious baked corn recipes for Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving Appetizers
I’d like to have a few appetizers this year, so I’m planning on having Rotel cheese dip and spinach and artichoke cheese dip with tortilla chips.
I’d also like to make up a cheeseboard with some fancy sausages, cheeses, and crackers.
Thanksgiving Planner Printables
To keep myself organized, I am using my Thanksgiving planner printables. I love being able to write down and track when I plan to start cooking the turkey, the sides, etc. It’s also been a great way to keep my Thanksgiving menu in one place, along with the grocery list!
There’s even a checklist to keep track of when to do things throughout the month of Thanksgiving. It’s been so helpful!
So that’s it for our Thanksgiving meal plan for 2019. What’s on your menu?

All looks good. With your daughter making deserts makes it even more special. I bet everything will turn out good. Your baked mac and cheese looks very yummy.
For two, we are having baked hen, mashed potatoes and gravy, cornbread dressing, green beans and rolls. For dessert Homemade Banana pudding and I may try your sweet potato dumplings. I may also have corn as that seems a must for Thanksgiving although I don’t always have it. Corn casserole sounds good though.
Thanks for sharing yours with us. .
