I know this is going to sound funny, but the first place I had wild rice pilaf was Red Lobster. Any time I would order seafood, I would always get the wild rice pilaf on the side. Now, every time I make seafood at home, I love to serve it with rice pilaf. Wild rice pilaf is even better!
Do you soak wild rice before cooking?
You can definitely soak wild rice before cooking if you’d like. If you soak it for several hours, it is beneficial because the wild rice will need to cook longer than regular rice. Since we are pressure cooking this wild rice, there is no need to soak it beforehand.
How do you add flavor to wild rice?
You add flavor to wild rice the same way you add flavor to regular rice. You can use garlic and onion, and a variety of herbs and seasonings to add flavor to your rice pilaf. Cooking the rice in broth also helps add flavor.
What does wild rice go well with?

Instant Pot Wild Rice Pilaf with Mushrooms
This pressure cooker wild rice pilaf is cooked with carrots, onions, celery, garlic, and portobello mushrooms. We begin by sautéing all of those ingredients until soft. Combine the wild rice with some rosemary, broth, and salt and pepper. You’re going to pressure cook on high for 15 minutes.
Let the Instant Pot naturally release for 10 minutes and then do a quick release. Let the rice rest for another 5 minutes and then fluff it with a fork. Stir in some parsley and toasted, sliced almonds for a crunchy, nutty taste! Enjoy with your delicious dinner!
