It’s time for another homeschool morning basket post! I’m always excited to share with others what we are doing every morning when we gather around the table and begin our day. I’ve always loved how morning time allows all of us to begin our day being exposed to things I’ve always wanted to teach. Over the past year I’ve moved more toward a Charlotte Mason homeschool morning basket. Today I’m going to share our September Charlotte Mason homeschool morning basket!

Charlotte Mason Homeschool Morning Basket
What’s in a Charlotte Mason homeschool morning basket? Well, this is where I keep our artist study, picture study, composer study, hymns, folksongs, nature study, plus all of my ideas for handicrafts and art lessons. Not to mention our read alouds!
You may know we use The Homeschool Garden for most all of our homeschool morning time plans. The reason I use THG is because all of those things that are part of a Charlotte Mason education are bundled and accessible for me every six weeks! I love it!
THG used to release new plans every four weeks, but now we spend a bit longer with our poets, artists, and composers and linger for six weeks total. I’m loving this new format!
Our theme for these six weeks is Impressions. THG does include memory work and copywork, but I actually use different sources for those things.
Artist Study

Our artist is Mary Cassatt. She has become one of my favorites! I just love the gentleness in her work.
Composer Study
Our composer is DeBussy. This is another favorite of mine.
Poetry Study

We are reading poems from Christina Rossetti. Rossetti has always been one of my favorite poets.
Hymn
Since we have already learned the hymn in THG, we are following along with Happy Hymnody. Our hymn this month is Rock of Ages.
Folksong
Au Clair de la lune – My daughter and I are trying to learn French, so I love French folksongs!
Shakespeare

We are reading the Lamb’s version of Romeo and Juliet.
Memory Work
Our memory work is from MFW. We are memorizing the Ten Commandments.
Bible
We are reading through the Old Testament with MFW CTG. I’m loving the discussions we are having. I read to the kids from this bible.
Art
We have an art lesson included with THG, but we are also working on art from Art for Kids’ Hub and Chalkpastel.com
Nature Study
We use the nature cards from THG, as well as our nature journals from TGTB.
Read Alouds
We are working our way through Boy of the Pyramids (I bought the audio from Simply Charlotte Mason) and I may begin The Golden Goblet, as well. These living books go along with our study of ancient Egypt.
I have also planned a few poetry tea times using recipes from THG, and some handicrafts as well! I’m planning to go more into detail about how we do poetry tea time and work in handicrafts over the next few weeks.

I am looking forward to hearing more about the poetry tea time and handicrafts. One of the handicrafts we will be working on soon is a corn husk doll. We have been so busy on the Friday’s I have planned it and just haven’t gotten a chance to start it. I loved reading about your morning basket.
Thanks! A corn husk doll sounds like a super fun handicraft!
