Since we began the tradition of a homeschool morning basket, how we use the basket and the resources we incorporate has definitely evolved. Now that I have seven kids that span across nearly all ages of childhood, I really wanted to find something that we could all do together during our homeschool morning time.

Since I struggled to find something that gave us several awesome pieces of content we could do together, while still allowing me to pick and choose other things, I decided to create it myself. So, I made our Homeschool Morning Time Menu printables!

Our beautiful morning time menu printables can be used with kids of all ages. We have several seasonal sets of morning time menu printables, and we are continuing to add to our themes.

Today, I want to introduce you to our harvest morning time menu printables, and share some activities and books you can use along with them!

Harvest morning time menu printables

In case you’re new here, we use our morning time menu printables in two different ways. I create an actual morning time menu for my younger children. These morning menus are full of lovely calendar pages that help young children practice basic skills.

I also create a packet for all of my children that includes everything else in our printable packs!

Pssttt…You can get all four of our seasonal morning time menus for a steep discount today! Check out the Charlotte Mason Collection!

Our packet includes poetry, Scripture copywork, a hymn, a folksong, our artist biography and note booking page, as well as four pieces of artwork and picture study note booking pages. There is also a sheet to create an acrostic poem and a writing prompt. All of these riches are looped through when we do our morning time.

I love the simplicity of themed morning time menu printables that I can add to a menu or create a packet for my younger kids, while also still having lots of freedom to add other subjects for our morning time.

Our morning time includes not only all of the goodies in our morning time printables, but I add in a composer study with The Story of Bach in Words and Music, Shakespeare (We are using this retelling this year, it’s so beautiful), poetry from the Harp and the Laurel Wreath, and a bit of Spanish. We do say a prayer together every morning, but our Bible study and catechism is now separated based on age. One thing we have added that my kids really enjoy is current events. We watch The World from A to Z for free on YouTube.

Harvest Book Basket Ideas

I love to fill our book basket with picture books that relate to our theme. Since our artist this term is Paul Cezanne, I’ve included some great picture books based on his life.

  • What the Artists Saw: Paul Cezanne
  • Great Artists: Paul Cezanne
  • Cezanne and the Apple Boy
  • Cezanne’s Parrot

Here are some harvest theme books we’ve enjoyed:

  • Farm Anatomy – Great for drawing
  • Ox-Cart Man
  • Hello, Harvest Moon
  • By the Light of the Harvest Moon
  • Strega Nona’s Harvest
  • The Year at Maple Hill Farm

If you’re looking to add some activities to these morning time menu printables, consider a moon study for science.

You could also try your hand at some Cezanne themed artwork with a Kids Art Box.
