Next year’s curriculum is beginning to roll in and I’m so happy to share with you the main curriculum we will be using as a family! We have used My Father’s World homeschool curriculum for seven years and I’m thrilled to begin our eighth year continuing on in the cycle. Today I am going to do an overview of My Father’s World Exploration to 1850 so you can see what’s available in the basic package and what we will be studying for Bible, history, and science!

My Father’s World Exploration to 1850

My Father’s World Exploration to 1850 homeschool curriculum is designed for children in grades 2-8 and is written so that all children of those ages within a family can do Bible study, history, and science together with the exception of 7th and 8th graders doing a more advanced science.

There are 34 weeks of lesson plans included in the teacher’s manual. Students study history chronologically from the discovery of the New World through the Gold Rush. Early American history is focused on with a look at some world exploration, as well.

We purchased the basic package, so I didn’t get the extra read alouds with this order. I did purchase 3 sets of student sheets and three books for our Bible study. Let’s take a look!

Bible

This year’s Bible study is focused on the book of James, so we will be reading that book together and the kids will be working on memorizing verses. There is also a study included with the basic package called Boy,Have I Got Problems.

History

Early American History books

I’m very excited about our early American history study. Colonial times are some of my favorites. We have greatly enjoyed the second volume of Story of the World, so I’m thrilled to study the third volume. Also, I loved Augustus Caesar’s World, so I cannot wait to dive into George Washington’s world!

Not pictured is the 2nd-3rd grade supplement I’m using for my third grader. I will just pull those books off the shelf from our time in Adventures in U.S. History.

Science

We will be studying animals and plants for science. I know I’ll have some very excited kids! For the first half of the year we will use God’s Guide to Animals and God’s Design The World of Animals. The last half of the year will consist of Apologia’s Exploring Creation with Botany.

And that’s it! I’ll be back to show you the rest of our studies.

Be sure to check out the video to see a look inside!
