Did you know that making your own foaming hand soap is incredibly easy? With just a few simple ingredients you can make this homemade foam hand soap recipe and spend a fraction of the cost of store bought foaming hand soap.
I absolutely love to make my own homemade cleaning recipes and this also includes DIY personal care products and beauty products such as this DIY foaming hand soap recipe. It really is so simple to put together a few natural ingredients and save yourself the trouble of constantly purchasing bottles of hand soap. Today I am going to show you just how simple it is to create your own foaming soap.
Natural Foaming Hand Soap Recipe

All you need is a foaming soap dispenser. I like to reuse my foaming dispenser from a hand soap that I purchased, but you can certainly purchase a glass foaming hand soap dispenser or even use a mason jar and a foaming soap lid. My kids are horrible with glass, so I stick to the old plastic foaming soap dispenser I have.
You will also need enough water, distilled water is best, to fill your soap dispenser 3/4 of the way full, liquid castile soap, a carrier oil such as olive oil, sweet almond oil or jojoba oil, and essential oils of your choice.
I decided to use olive oil in this foaming hand soap recipe because it is what I had on hand. Of all of the carrier oils I would prefer to use almond oil. I’m also using lavender essential oil.
All you need to do for this DIY recipe is add all of the ingredients to the foaming hand soap dispenser, put the foaming pump lid on, and shake them up! Those simple steps are so easy!
My family prefers foaming hand soap to liquid hand soap because it costs less to make and can go a lot further. Plus, my kids just love using foaming hand soap because they think it’s fun!
Now let’s talk about why we use the ingredients we are using in this foam soap recipe.

Distilled Water for Foaming Hand Soap
Room temperature distilled water is best for making DIY personal care products because you can ensure that nothing grows in the water that shouldn’t and your finished product will last longer. You can try to make the foaming hand soap with tap water, but it may not last as long.
Natural Castile Soap
I am using Dr. Bronner’s castile soap. You want to use an unscented castile soap for the most natural hand soap. I really do not prefer artificial fragrances in my body products because I have several family members with sensitive skin.
Carrier Oils
You want to choose a carrier oil for your foaming soap because it will help prevent any issues with the essential oils you add, and a carrier oil has moisturizing properties. In today’s recipe I’m using olive oil simply because I have it on hand, but it is not my first choice. I prefer sweet almond oil, but you can also use jojoba oil or fractionated coconut oil.

Essential Oils
You will need 10 drops of essential oils to scent your foaming hand soap. I prefer to just use lavender because it smells amazing. You could do a combination of essential oils using five drops of one and five drops of the other. I think a sweet orange scented hand soap or even just lemon essential oil would smell amazing, too!
If you wanted to create your own soap with antibacterial properties you could use tea tree oil, or the antibacterial essential oil blend from your favorite essential oil company.
Different Essential Oil Blends and Combinations
Here are a few of my favorite essential oil blends for body products:
Lavender and Lemon
Ginger and Lemongrass
Rosemary and Mint
Lavender and Chamomile
Lavender and Peppermint
