If you’re planning a preschool year filled with joy, discovery, and gentle learning, you’re in the right place! As a homeschooling mom, I believe preschool should be about cultivating curiosity and love for learning without pressure or overwhelm.

Homeschool Preschool Gentle Picks for Preschool at Home

Alphabet Resources We Love

In a Charlotte Mason preschool we focus a lot on habits, nature, and read alouds, but we also focus on slowly introducing academics. A big part of that for us is playing with letters. We learn their sounds and their names.

Alphabet chart

I am using this free ABC chart to teach my child the ABC song, as well as the basic letter sounds. It’s fun to use in a morning time menu, or on its own.

Alphabet worksheets

We will also complete worksheets from my Alphabet Notebook. These printables are basic, but fun for my daughter to use. We’ll also throw in lots of ABC games from my Teach the Alphabet book.

Simple Printables That Support Learning

I have a few other printables I plan to use with my preschooler throughout the year.

Morning time calendar printables.

First, we’ll use our Morning Time Calendar Pages daily to discuss the date, weather, and more.

And we will do lots of Preschool Literature Lessons. I always start with Brown Bear, Brown Bear.

Of course, we’ll do lots of nursery rhymes, too. My daughter also loves her Schoolnest Preschool notebook, and I pick up other workbooks to use off and on throughout the year.

Living Books

We will read tons of living books throughout the year. I always include our My Big Book of Catholic Bible Stories and Little Acts of Grace. Make sure to check out my big list of preschool booklists.

Math Play! is such a fun book for ideas for math games for little ones.

We’ll spend so much time reading books. The following are just a few that I have planned for the first few weeks of school.

Brambly Hedge has for sure become a favorite.

You cannot go wrong with the classics pictured below.

Habits and Nature

We will do a lot of focus on habits and spending time in nature. Make sure you check out my series on a Charlotte Mason preschool to learn more.

Bonus Tips for a Successful Preschool Year

  • Follow your child’s interests and adjust the pace as needed.
  • Keep lessons short and sweet — preschoolers thrive on routine but need plenty of free play.
  • Read aloud every day and talk about the stories to build language skills.
  • Use real-life experiences as learning moments — cooking, gardening, and nature walks are perfect!
