You guys, I’m having so much teaching my kids with My Father’s World Kindergarten curriculum this year. It has been so great for all of my little kids who range in age from 3-6 years old. It is so versatile that I’m able to do alphabet activities for my littlest guy, and more advanced reading skills with my older child. Today I am excited to share with you our octopus letter O activities for kindergarten. I hope you like them!

Octopus Activities for Kindergarten

We really got into the ocean theme with this unit. I made sure we watched My Octopus Teacher on Netflix. It didn’t hold my younger kids’ attention very long, but I really enjoyed it. Here are a few of the other ocean activities we did.

Our character concept from My Father’s World Kindergarten during this week was, “Even the octopus praises the Lord.” We learned that all creatures were made by God and we can all praise the Lord!

O is for Octopus Handprint Craft

We made this cute octopus handprint craft. It was really simple. All I had to do was trace four fingers on my child’s hand, and then turn their hand a little bit and trace those four fingers again. I then drew an octopus head on the fingers. I had the kids glue their octopus handprint on a blue piece of construction paper and then decorate it with ocean stickers. It was a big hit!

O is for Octopus Craft

Another really cute octopus craft we made was this sock octopus following these directions. They turned out so cute and my kids still play with them!

Ocean Themed Sensory Bin

I think the biggest hit by far during our octopus unit was the ocean sensory bin. I simply purchased a six quart sterilite container with a lid and this set of water beads and ocean animals. Now, the water beads can be pretty messy, so be prepared, but my kids played with this for a couple of weeks. I also added these cute sensory tools to aid in their play.

O is for Octopus Snack Idea

So, I know the snack looks kind of gross, but the kids loved it. For lunch one day during octopus week, I just cut up a hot dog to look like an octopus. It was incredibly easy and matched the theme perfectly!
