V is for Vegetable & Q is for Quail – MFW K

We recently finished the V is for Vegetable and Q is for Quail units in My Father’s World Kindergarten. Even though we haven’t quite done all of the activities in each unit, I think we did pretty good considering we have a newborn in the house! My Father’s World has been such a blessing to us.

V is for Vegetable – My Father’s World Kindergarten

I wasn’t very prepared for the vegetable unit. We didn’t do any of the suggested activities in the teacher’s manual. Instead, we planted our very own little herb garden. 

We also chose seeds for our very own veggie garden! We currently do square foot gardening in a small little raised garden bed.

We definitely couldn’t get out of this unit without reading “The Tale of Peter Rabbit.” This is one of my favorite childhood books, and my children love it, too! 

I think I’ve shown this puzzle before, but we love our ABC floor puzzle from Melissa & Doug. The kids were learning to work together here.

Q is for Quail – My Father’s World Kindergarten

For this unit we filled our bird feeder with black sunflower seeds. The birds have finally found it!

This bird feeder is visible from our schoolroom, so it’s a lot of fun to see who visits it while we are doing school!

The kids also enjoyed being birds! We learned how fast birds flap their wings. There is no way we can flap our “wings” as fast as a hummingbird!

We are enjoying more walks now and we spotted these gorgeous swans!
