Our homeschool morning basket has been such a great addition to our homeschool, so I’m really excited to share with you our Christmas homeschool morning basket for this year! The most fun thing we are adding to our mornings is the Colonial Christmas Advent from the Gentle Advent collection. I cannot tell you how excited I am to do our Advent readings and do the colonial inspired crafts and activities with the kids!

Homeschool Morning Basket for Christmas

Christmas Books
We are bringing out all of our favorite Christmas books for our homeschool morning time! I’m so excited to read some of our favorites including The Polar Express, The Night Before Christmas, If He Had Not Come, and more!
Artist Study
All of our regular studies that we do during morning time will be done through A Gentle Advent: Colonial Christmas. We will be studying The Mayflower Compact and The Christmas Coach.
Hymn Study
I love, love, love Christmas hymns. We will sing “All People That On Earth Do Dwell” along with lots of favorite Christmas hymns.
Poet Study
There are lots of great poems in Colonial Christmas. We will still read some poems from Christina Rossetti, along with other Christmas poems that we just love so much!
Homeschool Advent Plans
Advent is especially important to us this year. As my husband and I are growing in our faith we both are excited to come together to do Advent readings and lighting of the candles on Sunday evenings. Our Advent readings this year will come from Colonial Christmas.
Advent Wreath

I purchased a simple Advent wreath last year for our table along with the Advent candles. We have three purple candles representing peace, love, and hope, and one pink candle representing joy.
Projects
I’m very excited about all of the activities in Colonial Christmas! We are going to play colonial games, make some lovely handicrafts, talk a little bit about the geography of the 13 colonies, and even have a few lovely poetry tea times. I cannot wait to do all of these wonderful things with my children!
I do plan to continue reading from the Old Testament along with what we are studying in My Father’s World Creation to the Greeks. My littles will do our Nativity printable set and sit in along with us when we read our picture books.
