Today I am sharing an amazing recipe with you. This is probably one of my most favorite appetizers in the world. I consider this one of my simple living recipes because it is made with only a few ingredients, but tastes phenomenal! Everyone will want to know how you made this recipe. This bacon wrapped cheese stuffed jalapeno recipe is going to be the perfect appetizer for your next party!
What goes well with jalapeno?
I grew up in a family that loves spicy food. As a child I would often eat onions on their own! My dad has always grown jalapeno peppers in his garden and I can remember my mom frying the peppers in olive oil in a pan and adding cheese to the top. The jalapenos would lose a bit of their spice and the cheese would get all melty and it was just the best spicy side dish to any summer meal.
One day a few years ago I got a hankering for some of those jalapenos. I knew I wanted to add cheese, but I thought about what else I could add to make my pepper delish. I had a bag of bacon bits in the fridge, so I added that to the top of the cheese mixture and baked it. It was so good! Since then I have perfected the recipe by adding actual bacon!
To cool things down a little more, you could serve this jalapeno appetizer with ranch dressing. Cheese, bacon, ranch…need I say more? Let’s get to that recipe!
Cream Cheese Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers
I have seen these peppers referred to as jalapeno poppers, but I think of a popper as a pepper that is stuffed, breaded, and deep fried. These are simply sliced, as you can see below, and baked.
Be careful when handling hot peppers. If you’re very sensitive, you may want to wear gloves. I slice my jalapeno peppers in half, scoop out the seeds and ribs, and place on a foil lined baking tray. Do not touch your face when handling the peppers and make sure you wash your hands really well afterwards.
Next, you’ll want to mix up the cream cheese, shredded cheese, salt, and onion powder. Make sure your cream cheese is softened so it will stir easily.
Stuff the mixture into each pepper half.
I used ten slices of bacon for my ten peppers, sliced them in half, and then wrapped each pepper and secured with a toothpick.
After you get everything secured, bake in a 425 degree preheated oven for about 20 minutes. I then set my oven to broil for about two minutes to get the bacon to crisp. Remove the peppers from the tray so they aren’t sitting in bacon grease and allow to cool!
Yum! Don’t these just look delicious?
Remember, if you’re looking to spice up your next party, or you just want a delicious side dish with your next summer meal, you’ll want to try these bacon wrapped cream cheese stuffed jalapeno peppers! Baked in the oven and they couldn’t get any easier!
