When we think about St. Patrick’s Day activities, we often think about dressing in green, eating corned beef and cabbage, shamrocks, leprechauns, and luck. Well in this post, I want to challenge you and your kids to think about St. Patrick’s Day a little differently. Instead of thinking about being lucky, use this St. Patrick’s Day gratitude journal for kids to think about being blessed!

Gratitude Journal Activity
We live in such a fast paced world where everyone is so focused on the next thing. I don’t know about your kids, but mine often ask me for new things. They’re always looking for the next shiny thing a lot like most kids and at times they can seem ungrateful.
Instead of nagging my kids to just be grateful for what they have, I periodically assign gratitude journal prompts for kids so they can look at their lives from a different perspective.
Journaling is such an important activity for kids because studies have shown that gratitude journaling in particular helps to instill kindness and can also greatly benefit the physical and psychological health of a child.
Gratitude Journal for Students
These particular gratitude journaling pages are Christian in nature, so they can be used in homeschools, as well as Christian schools. If a child is struggling to come up with ideas of things they are grateful for, you can ask them basic questions, like who helps take care of them, who has done nice things for them, are they thankful for a warm bed to sleep in, food to eat, etc.
Just try to help kids see the bigger picture beyond their immediate wants and that we should all be grateful that our needs are met.
For younger students, you can have them draw pictures of the things they are grateful for, or have them dictate to you while you fill out the paper for them.
